Champion Asean as an integrated market of 600m: Chan Chun Sing
Singapore
BUSINESSES need to be prepared to operate in either a scenario where there is greater global integration and higher trajectory growth, or in the alternative scenario where the world could fragment into two or more pieces and end up in a slower growth trajectory, said Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing at the Digitise Asean 2019 conference on Monday, where he also called on industry players to champion Asean as an integrated market of 600 million.
"This does us well within Asean but also outside. Each of us individually will never be a sufficiently attractive proposition. But if we all come together, a 600-million market is certainly an attractive enough proposition for the rest of the world," said Mr Chan to more than 250 participants, including policymakers, senior business leaders and academics from across the region.
