China can maintain 7% growth: Tung Chee Hwa

CHINA is treading a "new normal" of slower growth but maintaining that targeted 7 per cent GDP growth over the long term is attainable, said Tung Chee Hwa, vice-chairman of China's top political advisory body.

Growing consumption, a ramp-up in the services sector that is creating new jobs, and an accelerated urbanisation process further stimulated by the one-belt one-road initiative are among reasons for that optimism.
