China inflation eases but producer prices spike

    CHINA'S inflation eased in December while prices at factory gates continued to rise, reaching their highest point in five years on the back of strong commodity prices.

    The consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.1 per cent year on year in December, slightly below expectations, as mild temperatures kept prices of food under the norm for winter.
