China manufacturing sector surveys diverge as activity of state firms picks up

Official PMI posts its first increase since Nov while Caixin PMI expands at its weakest pace in 4 months

    CHINA'S two sets of manufacturing surveys diverged in March as state firms stepped up production after anti-pollution measures were lifted, while smaller private firms suffered from soft overseas demand.

    The official Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) beat expectations posting its first increase since November as steel mills geared up production after lull winter months.
