CHINA'S manufacturing began the year on a high, but this week's purchasing managers' indices (PMIs) show signs that growth may have peaked.
The Caixin/Markit PMI, a private survey, remained stable at 51.1 last month, beating expectations; while the government-backed survey came in at 51.3, an eight month-low compared to 51.6 in December - but still well above the 50 point mark which divides growth from contraction.
