Covid-19: 657 new cases on Sunday, 10 Singaporeans and PRs
[SINGAPORE] The Health Ministry (MOH) confirmed 657 new Covid-19 cases as of noon on Sunday (May 3), bringing the total number in Singapore to 18,205.
There were also six new clusters identified.
Work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories make up 626 of the new cases. Of the local cases outside dormitories, 10 are Singaporeans or permanent residents, and three are work pass holders.
An 86-year-old Singaporean woman has died from complications due to Covid-19 on Sunday, added MOH. This brings the death toll here to 18. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 27 April, and had a history of diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital has reached out to her family and is extending assistance to them, added MOH.
A total of 61 more cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, bringing the total number of those who have fully recovered to 1,408.
Currently, there are 1,630 confirmed cases still in hospital with 22 in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Community isolation facilities have another 15,149 cases.

Earlier on Sunday, MOH said the number of migrant worker cases has been fluctuating in recent days as a laboratory was clearing backlogged cases. The ministry added it is working with the laboratory to stabilise its operations.
This is the 10th day in a row where new daily infections fell below 1,000, with local cases excluding those in dormitories remaining low.
Of the new cases, 87 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing, said MOH.
In the past week, from April 26 to May 2, MOH has uncovered links for 821 previously unlinked cases.
Education Minister Ong Ye Kung said earlier on Sunday that precautions will be taken to keep students safe as they are allowed back to school from May 19. But attendance will not be compulsory.
On Saturday, the multi-ministry coronavirus task force said some businesses such as barbers, home-based bakers and laundry services will be allowed to resume operating on May 12.
