Davinder Singh to take over as SIAC chairman
THE Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) says Senior Counsel Davinder Singh has been appointed the new chairman of its board of directors with effect from Friday (Dec 16).
He will take over from Lucien Wong, who stepped down on Thursday (Dec 15) after being with the office since April 1, 2013.
The move follows Mr Wong's recent appointment as the next Attorney-General of Singapore.
Mr Singh, the chief executive officer of Drew & Napier - one of the Big Four law firms in Singapore - has an active international arbitration practice involving complex commercial disputes and multiple jurisdictions.
Describing the appointment as "an honour and privilege", he said Mr Wong "leaves a hugely impressive legacy".
He added that he is looking forward to working closely with Gary Born, president of the SIAC Court of Arbitration.
Said Lim Seok Hui, chief executive officer of SIAC and the Singapore International Mediation Centre: "We will certainly miss Lucien, whose dynamic leadership guided us through an exciting and transformative period of growth and expansion. We are delighted to welcome Davinder as our new chairman, and are confident that he will play a pivotal role in SIAC's continued growth and success."
