Daybreak for nightlife sector: businesses to fully reopen from Apr 19
ALL nightlife businesses in Singapore will be permitted to fully reopen from Apr 19, 2022, as part of Singapore's endeavour to live with Covid-19.
These businesses include bars, pubs, karaoke establishments, discotheques and nightclubs. The resumption comes after the Multi-Ministry Taskforce announced the easing of safe management measures (SMMs) earlier in March, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Home Affairs said in a joint statement on Monday (Apr 4).
All nightlife establishments will be subjected to SMMs imposed on food and beverage establishments, retail liquor establishments, and live performances, where applicable, including vaccination-differentiated SMMs.
These include group sizes of up to 10 fully-vaccinated individuals, mask-wearing required indoors, safe distancing of at least 1 metre between individuals or groups when masks are off, and capacity limits of 75 per cent for large settings with more than 1,000 participants.
As for nightlife establishments that involve dancing activities, such as in nightclubs and discotheques, a negative antigen rapid test (ART) supervised by an MOH-approved test provider, either in-person or remotely, will be required for patrons before entering the premises.
The test will be valid for 24 hours for the time of the test result, and patrons must get tested before the start of their visit and at most 24 hours before the end of the attendance at the event or activity.
The ministries noted that enforcement agencies will also continue to monitor the compliance of these SMMs.
