Debtors, banks to feel strain of falling emerging market currencies

THE slide of commodity and emerging market currencies will help exporters once markets settle, but importers and local borrowers of foreign currencies will be under pressure, economists say.
Panic has also broken out in international markets as emerging and other fund managers had applied a carry trade by borrowing dollars at very low interest rates and investing in emerging nation bonds and equities.
