PURCHASES of previously owned US homes rose less than forecast in December as higher prices limited sales to first-time buyers.
Contract closings increased 2.4 per cent to a 5.04 million annual rate from a 4.92 million pace in the prior month, figures from the National Association of Realtors showed on Friday in Washington. Prices picked up while inventories fell.
