[SEOUL] South Korea's central bank chief said the ongoing outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers) has become the biggest uncertainty the local economy faces, but hopes are growing that the virus' impact on the economy will fade.

"Economic indicators during the third week of the outbreak have fallen, but the pace of the declines has eased," said Bank of Korea governor Lee Ju Yeol during a meeting at the central bank's headquarters on Wednesday.
