February retail sales, producer prices dip

US retail sales fell less than expected in February, but a sharp downward revision to January's sales could reignite concerns about the economy's growth prospects. Producer prices also slipped in February on lower energy and food costs.

The Commerce Department said on Tuesday that retail sales dipped 0.1 per cent last month as automobile purchases slowed and cheaper petrol undercut receipts at service stations.
