FOUR senior business executives have received national honours for their outstanding contributions to Singapore
Two Public Service Star (Distinguished Friends of Singapore) awards were conferred. They were presented by President Tony Tan Keng Yam to Dominic Barton, global managing director of McKinsey & Company, as well as Applied Materials chairman Michael R Splinter.
The Public Service Medal (Friends of Singapore) was conferred on Paul Graham, DHL Supply Chain global chief operating officer and chief executive officer in mainland Europe, Middle East & Africa.
The Public Service Medal - which recognises an individual's commendable public service in Singapore or achievements in fields such as arts, sports, and the sciences - was also awarded to Gautam Banerjee. Mr Banerjee is Blackstone's senior managing director and co-chairman of its Asia Operating Committee, as well as the chairman of Blackstone Singapore.
Initiated by the Economic Development Board (EDB) in 1998, both the Public Service Star (Distinguished Friends of Singapore) and Public Service Medal (Friends of Singapore) recognise senior executives for their outstanding contributions to Singapore's economic growth.
