French industrial output rises again in January: INSEE

[PARIS] French industrial output rose 0.4 per cent in January, data from statistics office INSEE showed, extending a gain made in December and beating analysts'forecasts.
December's rise was revised downwards slightly to 1.4 per cent month-on-month from an earlier 1.5 per cent reading.
Twenty-six economists polled by Reuters had expected on average a 0.3 per cent fall in output, with forecasts ranging from a rise of 0.5 per cent to a fall of 1.0 per cent.
Manufacturing output fell 0.1 per cent month-on-month after a 1.1 per cent gain in December - a figure revised down from a first estimate of 1.2 per cent.
