THOUGH more than 180 countries have given their commitments for the United Nations' climate-change talks in Paris, the pledges need to be matched with a global agreement that allows for actions dealing with climate change to become progressively more ambitious over time, Minister for Environment, Water and Resources Masagos Zulkifli has said.

Noting that the commitments so far represent more than 95 per cent of global emissions, he added: "While we share the concern that these pledges do not yet limit temperature rise to below 2 deg C or 1.5 deg C, it serves as a strong foundation for structured international collaboration towards that goal.
