Global growth outlook overshadowed by protectionism: IMF

THE International Monetary Fund (IMF), predicting that global economic growth will remain subdued this year and the next, has warned that the situation could worsen if the world turns its back on globalisation.
The agency's chief economist and economic counsellor Maurice Obstfeld, introducing the IMF's latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) report, said at a briefing on Tuesday: "Taken as a whole, the world economy has moved sideways. Growth has been too low, for too long."
