CONTRARY to popular belief, inequality between all people in the world has declined consistently since 1990, a new study by the World Bank has found.
However, it warned that the continuing slowdown in global growth could turn the situation around. Its study, published on the eve of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings in Washington, said that despite the lethargy in the global economy, extreme poverty worldwide is continuing to fall - in East Asia especially.
