US extends one-year tariff exclusions on some Chinese industrial goods as part of trade truce

[WASHINGTON] The United States on Wednesday (Nov 26) granted a one-year extension of tariff exclusions for some Chinese industrial and medical imports, including equipment for making solar-energy products, as part of a US-China trade truce agreed earlier this month.

US President Donald Trump imposed the “Section 301” tariffs in his first term over Beijing’s intellectual property practices.

The exclusions, which had been extended incrementally for more than a year, were due to expire on Nov 29.

“The extension of the exclusions follows the historic trade and economic deal reached between President Trump and President Xi Jinping of China announced by the White House on Nov 1, 2025,” the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) said in a statement.

The moves covers 14 product categories related to equipment for manufacturing solar products and 164 for a wide range of industrial and medical products including electric motors, blood pressure monitoring equipment, pump components, auto air compressors and printed circuit boards. REUTERS
