Government reviewing Singapore nightlife operators' suggestions to help industry restart
THE government is reviewing suggestions from nightlife and entertainment operators to support the industry - one of the earliest to close when the coronavirus broke out in Singapore - and help it resume business.
Areas being considered include allowing family-themed karaoke joints that serve no alcoholic drinks and observe safe management measures to resume business, and quicker approvals for temporary changes in business licensing.
The possibility of extending drinking hours from the current 10.30pm to midnight is another suggestion being reviewed by the authorities following dialogue with the industry, according to the Singapore Nightlife Business Association's (SNBA) letter to its members and industry players last week.
