Graft-buster Joko losing steam

President caught in the centre of enemity between police and corruption watchdog

JUST three months into his presidency, Joko Widodo's graft-busting zeal is in doubt amid a tit-for-tat feud between the country's corruption watchdog and the national police.

Following several hours in detention, police released from custody early on Saturday Bambang Widjojanto, the deputy chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), on a warmed-over complaint that he compelled witnesses to commit perjury during a case before the Constitutional Court in 2010.
