High-profile Singaporean auto exec Soh Wei Ming’s EV brand BeyonCa ceases operations
China-based luxury EV maker has reportedly ceased operations and left employees unpaid
[SINGAPORE] BeyonCa, a luxury electric vehicle manufacturer founded by prominent Singaporean automotive executive Soh Wei Ming, has reportedly ceased operations.
According to multiple China news outlets, an open letter signed by BeyonCa employees has been circulating online. It states that the company has ceased operation and management has not responded to inquiries on unpaid wages and remunerations.
BeyonCa was established in 2021 by Singaporean automotive executive Soh Wei Ming as the startup originally named Binli Intelligent Technology. The brand is backed by French carmaker Renault, as well as China state-owned carmaker DongFeng.
Soh is the brand’s chairman. He is also the chairman and CEO of Renault China and also founded Mobility Asia, a Volkswagen subsidiary focusing on transport technologies, including connectivity, autonomous vehicles and software.
The high-profile automotive executive was previously on the board of management and executive vice-president for Volkswagen Group China, and was the highest-ranking ethnic Chinese executive for the German giant.
BT has contacted BeyonCa and Soh for comment.

Ex-VW talent, strategic moves
Prior to the developments, BeyonCa’s last publicised action was a move to establish manufacturing in Hong Kong.
In October 2025, it announced plans to assemble cars at Tai Po Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, which, if a reality, would have made it the first to make cars in the territory.
This followed a 2024 shift to Hong Kong, with a proposal to establish a headquarters, vehicle assembly plant, and four other centres at Tseung Kwan O InnoPark.
