Higher starting pay for graduate engineers joining public sector

THE salaries for engineers joining the public service upon graduation will start from S$3,800 a month, while those in information and communications technology (ICT) will start from S$4,000.

This represents an average increase of 20 per cent, and the revised amounts will take effect from the middle of this year, said Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean in Parliament on Wednesday as he outlined plans to help attract and retain such officers in the public service.
