Hong Kong: Stocks fall 1.26% at the open

HONG Kong stocks dropped more than one per cent at the open on Thursday, with investors spooked by China’s surging coronavirus cases after the country eased its strict zero-Covid controls.
The Hang Seng Index fell 1.26 per cent, or 250.51 points, to 19,648.40, before recovering slightly in early trade.
The Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.35 per cent, or 10.67 points, to 3,076.73, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange slipped 0.36 per cent, or 7.05 points, to 1,967.28. AFP
