GIC, Temasek individual investments free from govt influence
THE individual investments of GIC and Temasek are fully independent of any interference or influence from the Singapore government, and they operate on a purely commercial basis that maximises long-term, risk-adjusted returns, said Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat. With regard to possible investments in companies that are found to be linked to the haze, Mr Heng said that as GIC and Temasek are oriented towards generating long-term returns on a sustainable basis, investing in companies with environmentally unsustainable practices could negatively impact the commercial value of their investments over the long term.
