David Ong's seat declared vacant
The Bukit Batok single seat ward previously held by People's Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament David Ong has been officially vacated. Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob said on Monday that she has received and accepted Mr Ong's resignation.
Mr Ong, a 54-year-old second-term MP, abruptly resigned from politics last Saturday. His decision is believed to be linked to an alleged extramarital affair with a fellow PAP member.
