IMF chief unveils 4-year US$40b aid programme for Ukraine

    UKRAINE is set to receive about US$40 billion in funding over the next four years, nearly half of which will come from the International Monetary Fund, its chief Christine Lagarde said in Brussels.

    The ex-Soviet republic is on the brink of bankruptcy after a year of political upheaval and war and was hoping to clinch a deal with the IMF to unlock the wider financing package.
