THE global economy is "increasingly threatened by inward-looking policies including protectionism and stalled reforms", said Agustin Carstens, chairman of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) International Monetary and Finance Committee (IMFC), at the close of the IMF and World Bank's annual meetings in Washington.
Mr Carstens, who is also governor of the Bank of Mexico, spoke after IMF managing director Christine Lagarde issued an unusually gloomy verdict on the state of the world economy.
