IMF issues unusually downbeat report on Korean economy


THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a remarkably downbeat assessment of South Korea's economy following one of its visits to the country under the IMF's programme of regular economic monitoring and surveillance.

Mission leader Brian Aitken said in a statement: "Korea's growth momentum stalled somewhat during 2014 and the outlook remains challenging from both a cyclical and structural standpoint.
