IMF signals strong growth prospects for Asia but warns of challenges
Tokyo
ASIA'S economic outlook "remains the strongest in the world", International Monetary Fund (IMF) deputy managing director Mitsuhiro Furusawa said in Jakarta on Wednesday ahead of the scheduled release in Kuala Lumpur later this month of the IMF's latest World Economic Outlook update.
Speaking at an international conference on taxation organised by the IMF and the Indonesian government, Mr Furusawa also drew attention to "low" levels of taxation in Asia and suggested that revenues need to rise in order to keep pace with development challenges facing the region.
