India a safe haven in emerging-market storm, says IIF

Fund managers raise their allocations to India equities, even as emerging markets, excluding China, are having net outflows

FUND flows from advanced to emerging markets suffered severe turbulence in July, including heavy net outflows, although India markets have proven to be a refuge in the emerging-market storm, the Washington-based Institute of International Finance (IIF) said.

Sonja Gibbs, its director of capital markets, said on Wednesday, upon the release of the institute's latest data: "The share of emerging-market assets in fund investors' portfolios has dropped to a post-crisis low."
