[JAKARTA] Indonesia's annual inflation rate jumped more than expected to 8.36 per cent in December from 6.23 per cent in November, the statistics bureau said on Friday, after the new government raised fuel prices by more than 30 percent.
A Reuters poll of 17 analysts had forecast an annual rate of 7.92 per cent for December.
On monthly basis inflation jumped to 2.46 per cent from 1.50 per cent in November. Analysts had expected 2.05 per cent.
Indonesia raised subsidised fuel prices by more than 30 per cent in November to help narrow the country's twin budget and current account deficits.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food prices and administered prices, edged up to 4.93 per cent in December compared with 4.21 per cent on the previous month.
