Indonesia inflation rate rises to 3.83% in Feb: stats bureau

[JAKARTA] Indonesia's annual inflation rate increased in February, mainly due to higher prices for processed and raw foods as well as healthcare, the statistics bureau said on Wednesday.

February's annual headline rate was 3.83 per cent, the bureau said, compared with January's 3.49 per cent and the 3.90 per cent predicted in a Reuters poll.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index was up 0.23 per cent in February.

Core inflation, which excludes administered and volatile food prices, also picked up in February, to 3.41 per cent from 3.35 per cent the previous month.

Indonesia's central bank, which cut its key rate six times in 2016, targets annual inflation to be between 3 and 5 per cent this year. Its next policy decision is due on March 16.
