Indonesia seen posting another small trade surplus in February
[JAKARTA] Indonesia is expected to report a small trade surplus for February, while exports and imports were seen declining at a slower pace than a month earlier, a Reuters poll showed on Friday.
Economists in the poll all forecast see either a small surplus or a small deficit, with a median estimate of about US$30 million surplus, close to the US$50 million surplus the country posted for January.
Exports in February were seen falling 14.70 per cent from a year earlier, compared to a 20.72 per cent plunge in January.
The drop in imports in February was seen at 10.65 per cent from a year ago, versus a 17.15 per cent slump in January.
The trade data comes out on Tuesday, two days before Bank Indonesia concludes its monthly policy meeting.
