Indonesia's 2024 GDP growth seen at 5.1%, finance minister says
The government is monitoring global markets conditions, which are now affected by the conflict in the Middle East
INDONESIA’S economic growth this year seen at 5.1 per cent, with annual growth in the July-September quarter expected to come in above 5 per cent, finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said on Friday (Oct 18).
She said household consumption and investment activity were supportive of growth in the third quarter, while regional elections in November and year-end spending is expected to support growth in the fourth quarter.
Speaking after the quarterly financial sector stability committee meeting, she said the government was monitoring global markets conditions, which were now affected by the conflict in the Middle East.
“A number of policies aimed at supporting purchasing power, such as keeping prices stable and social assistance, will be maintained until the end of 2024,” Sri Mulyani said.
The re-emerging global market uncertainties have put some pressure on the rupiah, forcing Bank Indonesia to pause its easing cycle this month to keep the currency stable. REUTERS
