Indonesia's current account deficit shrinks to 1.8% of GDP in Q3: central bank
[JAKARTA] Indonesia's current account deficit shrank to 1.8 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter, from a revised 2.2 per cent in the previous quarter, data from the central bank showed on Friday.
Bank Indonesia revised the current account gap for the second quarter to 2.2 per cent of GDP. It previously reported a 2 per cent deficit for April-June.
The balance of payments swelled to US$5.7 billion from US$2.2 billion in the second quarter.
The current account deficit will not exceed 2 per cent of GDP in the fourth quarter and 2.5 per cent for the full year, said Hendy Sulistiowati, executive director of statistics at Bank Indonesia.
