THE industry will play a pivotal role in Singapore's infocomm manpower strategy, a series of programmes aimed at building a pipeline of local professionals to fill the over 30,000 new infocomm jobs created by Singapore's future economy and Smart Nation initiatives by 2020.
Private-sector companies Singtel, ST Electronics, Integrated Health Information Systems, DBS and UOB have committed to support TechSkills Accelerator - the new skills development and job placement hub for the infocomm sector - as anchor employers that will hire based on industry-relevant skills and less on academic qualifications.
