Singapore IRELAND wants to position itself as a top destination for foreign investors in a post-Brexit world, said the country's Deputy Prime Minister Frances Fitzgerald.

"We regret the UK's decision to leave the European Union (EU), but we respect it. Now, we see a lot of opportunity for us to be that post-Brexit solution for companies, especially for the Asia-Pacific region," she said in an interview with The Business Times on Monday.

The two-year Brexit transition period that British Prime Minister Theresa May has proposed - which will delay a full Brexit until 2021 - will give companies more time to plan and hopefully make the decision to go to Ireland, she felt.
