Japan consumer confidence improves in January

[TOKYO] Japanese consumer confidence in January improved for a second straight month, a Cabinet Office survey showed on Monday.

The survey's sentiment index for general households, which includes views on incomes and jobs, was at 39.1 in January, up from 38.8 in December.

The survey began in 1982. "General households" are those with two or more people.
