Japan to create ministerial posts for startups, decarbonisation: media
JAPAN will create a ministerial post targeted at nurturing business startups and another to promote decarbonisation, Kyodo news agency quoted Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as telling a meeting of business leaders on Friday (Jul 22).
"We will prepare an unprecedented support system that sparks long-term, large-scale private investments (in decarbonisation)," Kyodo quoted Kishida as saying. He did not elaborate, Kyodo said.
Kishida's predecessor, Yoshihide Suga, said in 2020 that Japan aimed to be carbon neutral by 2050, and said steps to address climate change should been seen not as constraints to economic growth but as a growth driver. REUTERS
