JAPAN and the Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on semiconductor policies, Japanese industry ministry said on Wednesday (Jun 21), as the two nations critical in the global chip supply chain come closer through US-led export curbs on China.

Under the agreement, Japanese and Dutch governments will facilitate private and public sector cooperation on semiconductor and related technologies such as photonics, sharing information on policies, the Japanese ministry said.

The countries also share the significance of research projects at the Japanese government-backed next-generation chipmaker Rapidus and promote tie-up among research labs, it said. REUTERS
