Japan Oct retail sales rise 1.4% y-o-y: METI

[TOKYO] Japanese retail sales rose 1.4 per cent in October from a year earlier, government data showed on Friday, in a sign that consumer spending is picking up some momentum.
The rise compared with a 1.2 per cent increase expected by economists in a Reuters poll. It followed a 2.3 per cent annual rise in September, the data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed.
