Japanese firms' pivot from China towards Asean continues: Jetro

But economists think that mounting wages and other costs could send more firms back to home base

JAPANESE firms operating in Asia continue to prefer Asean over China when it comes to making new business investments, the latest annual survey done among some 10,000 firms across the region has found.

The study by the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) said, however, that while more Japanese companies expect profits in Asia overall to rise in the coming year, they have concerns about mounting wage and other costs.
