[WASHINGTON] The number of positions waiting to be filled in the US dropped by 345,000 in May to 5.5 million, Labour Department figures showed Tuesday. Hiring cooled and fewer Americans quit their jobs.
The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey projected 5.65 million openings. April's vacancies were revised up to a record 5.85 million from a previously reported 5.79 million.
