THE Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail project is expected to contribute RM100 billion (S$32.7 billion) to the gross domestic product (GDP), Malaysia's Dewan Rakyat was told on Thursday.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Razali Ibrahim said that out of the total, RM70 billion is expected to be generated from construction, operation and the multiplier impact of the two activities. "The remaining RM30 billion is projected from the wider economic benefit of increased activities expected in realty, tourism and service sectors," the New Straits Times online quoted him as saying.
