Singapore
PRIME Minister Lee Hsien Loong offered his condolences to the widow of former politician Lee Khoon Choy, calling him "steadfast and loyal till the end". The late Mr Lee, 92, died at the National University Hospital on Saturday, having battled pneumonia for two weeks.
In his letter of condolence on Sunday, Prime Minister Lee recounted founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew's description of the late Mr Lee as "a man who 'had it', a man of courage who did not melt under pressure". As ambassador to Indonesia, Mr Lee had played a "crucial role" in thawing relations between Singapore and Indonesia, Prime Minister Lee noted in his letter of condolence.
