    INDIA'S Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Singapore's former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, who died early Monday morning, was a lion among leaders.

    In his condolence to Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his family, Mr Modi wrote: "A far-sighted statesman and a lion among leaders, Mr Lee Kuan Yew's life teaches valuable lessons to everyone. News of his demise is saddening.''

    Mr Modi added that his prayers are with the family and the people of Singapore: "May his soul rest in peace.''
