Legislation for alternative arrangements for meetings to extend beyond June 2021: MinLaw

THE Ministry of Law (MinLaw) has announced that the duration of legislation that enables entities to hold meetings such as annual general meetings via electronic means will be further extended to beyond June 30 this year.

This legislation will continue to be in force until revoked or amended by MinLaw, according to a press statement on Tuesday.

The Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Alternative Arrangements for Meetings) (Meetings Orders) is said to enable various types of entities to convene, hold or conduct meetings via electronic means. It is envisaged that the Meetings Orders will continue to be in force for at least as long as the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020 (Control Order) is in force.

To provide certainty to entities organising meetings, MinLaw will give notice at least six months in advance before the alternative arrangements cease to be available. This will cater to entities who have relied on a Meetings Order to make early preparations for meetings, before the end date is announced, the ministry added.
