THE Land Transport Authority (LTA) has appointed an independent advisory panel (IAP) to assess the power supply system for all MRT and LRT lines.
The panel will report back to the LTA on the strength of the system as well as make recommendations for improvements based on international best practices.
LTA chief Chew Men Leong said: "We have appointed an IAP which comprises distinguished professionals to give the power supply system a thorough health check. This is part of our continuous effort to improve and upgrade the rail system to meet the needs of the commuting public."
He added: "We are confident that the panel's recommendations will help LTA determine the necessary actions to minimise power-related incidents and enhance overall reliability."
The team includes representatives from the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Nanyang Technological University, Energy Market Authority (Singapore) and Siemens.
