Eight in 10 Singaporeans polled favour building a founders' memorial to mark the values and ideals that underpin Singapore's rise. And of the two site options for the memorial, the committe in charge prefers Gardens by the Bay's Bay East Garden.
After four months of engagement with nearly 2,000 Singaporeans covering all age groups and languages, the 15-member Founders' Memorial Committee said on Monday that there is a consensus that the memorial "should evoke pride and gratitude in what Singapore has achieved, foster a sense of unity amongst Singaporeans and inspire all who visit to build on that legacy for the future of Singapore".
