Malaysian industrial output up in December
But economists see slowing trend as sales value of manufacturing sector dips 1.2%, with declines registered by 42 of the 138 industries surveyed
Kuala Lumpur
MALAYSIA'S industrial production index (IPI) rose 2.7 per cent last December from a year ago supported by positive growth in the manufacturing and electricity indices although the mining index contracted 1.5 per cent.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the December IPI edged up 2.8 per cent month-on- month owing to an increase in all indices: manufacturing (3.6 per cent), mining (2.5), and electricity (3.5).
